University of Alaska Anchorage General Support Services is recruiting for the position of Surplus Technician. UAA General Support Services includes the Copy & Print Center, Mailroom/Central Receiving, Surplus & Relocation, and Recycling functions.

This recruitment is for a Surplus Technician to assist in Surplus property pick up/delivery as well as relocation tasks at the Anchorage campus. Will require lifting/moving (assisted or unassisted) on a daily basis furniture, electronics, and other items. Must be able to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted and 70+ pounds assisted.   This is a full-time, benefited position. Hours required will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (40 hours/week). Position will also be cross trained in Mailroom duties in order to assist as needed and deemed appropriate.

Must be highly dependable and comfortable with the physical requirements of the position, with a strong work ethic and positive approach. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, intermediate level computer skills, ability to interpret and apply complex rules, regulations and policies, as well as the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. A copy of current DMV record will be required and applicants must meet UAA safe driver criteria. Background check will also be required as a condition of employment (processed by the university).  Note that no relocation can be paid for this position.
