Position: Deputy Executive Director

Reports To: ACBHC Executive Director and ACBHC Board Chair

Salary Range: DOE

Position Summary:

The Deputy Executive Director will work closely with the Executive Director to oversee

the strategic direction, management, and operations of the Alaska Commission for

Behavioral Health Certification. They will play a key role in the succession planning of

the Commission and will be integral in driving organizational growth, ensuring

compliance with regulations and standards, and fostering a culture of excellence and

innovation.

This position is exempt and reports directly to the ACBHC Executive Director with

reporting responsibilities also to the ACBHC Chairperson. The role demands an

individual with mature judgment, capable of working autonomously while being highly

self-motivated. The Deputy Executive Director will be responsible for assisting in the

oversight and management of the Commission's operations, including administrative

tasks, fiscal management, and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist in grant writing efforts and identification of funding sources to support the

Commission's initiatives.

2. Provide supervision and support to staff members, ensuring efficient operations

and adherence to organizational goals.

3. Collaborate with the Executive Director in preparing agendas for Commission

Board Meetings and coordinating commissioner travel arrangements.

4. Aid in the maintenance of the policy and procedure manual to ensure compliance

with state and federal requirements.

5. Assist in the timely submission of reports to funding agencies, such as DBH,

utilizing electronic systems like GEMS or other designated platforms.

6. Support the Executive Director in preparing and submitting the annual reports, as

well as regular board reports, to Commission Members.

7. Attend relevant events and conferences, such as the Annual Alaska Addictions

Professionals Association Annual Learning Institute, to represent the ACBHC and

facilitate certification workshops.

8. Assist in the electronic tracking of certification and recertification applications,

ensuring accuracy and completeness. This will include routine certification file

audits and working with appropriate vendors to conduct financial audits.

9. Responsible for developing a social media footprint for the Commission and

managing the Commission`s social media presence by creating and posting

engaging content and responding to comments and private messages.

10. Aid in overseeing all certification requirements and maintaining records of

certifications in effect and in process.

11. Assist in the collection and analysis of data on certifications, ethics complaints,

and administrative reports.

12. Support the Executive Director in day-to-day program budget management and

preparation in collaboration with the ACBHC bookkeeper and Commission

Treasurer.

13. Assist in maintaining databases related to certification programs and

administrative functions.

14. Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director, to support the overall

mission and goals of the Commission.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in social services or a related field OR A

minimum of 5 years of working experience in a social services or related field.

2. Familiarity with State certification standards and regulations.

3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

4. Strong planning, organizational, and creative problem-solving abilities.

5. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities with accuracy.

6. Proficiency in administrative tasks, including grant writing, policy development,

budgeting, and personnel management.

7. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work.

8. Good knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding grant administration.

9. Willingness to assume responsibility for the operations of a certification agency.

10. Familiarity with GEMS or willingness to learn other management systems

designated by funding sources.

11. Collaboration with legislative bodies and governmental agencies as necessary to

fulfill the Commission's objectives.
