Summary:

This position maintains the grounds of the Cemetery, assists with burials, installs markers, operates and repairs equipment, provides building maintenance, and performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Assist with burials and disinterments
• Dig burial spaces with or without heavy equipment
• Operate dump truck
• Setting of markers, benches, permanent ornamentation, etc.
• Pour concrete for bases, vase blocks, etc.
• Perform general building maintenance
• Maintain vehicles and equipment 
• Remove snow and gravel/salt parking lots and roadways
• Water, mow, and fertilize grass
• Plant and cultivate trees, shrubs, and other plants
• Clean, repair, remediate, and maintain the gardens and columbaria 
• Maintain the appearance of signs, monuments, and other installations 
• Remove trash, debris, and other inappropriate material 
• Clean & maintain the shop and bay area in main building
• Assist funeral homes with pick-ups and deliveries
• Minimal customer service
• Maintain the safety of the Parks
• Report immediately any deviation or irregularity (whether the cause or not)
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Dependable and punctual
• Able to perform heavy lifting
• Good organizational skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Able to work without supervision
• Experienced in building and equipment maintenance 
• Landscaping knowledge and experience preferred
• Previous backhoe operating experience preferred
• Valid Alaska driver license and good driving record preferred
