This position serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Anchorage Fire Department (AFD). The Chief Administrative Officer reports directly to the Fire Chief, and directs the finance, capital projects, and human resource functions within AFD. Responsible for ensuring a consistent delivery of service, providing for quality control, continuous quality improvement, and ensuring the activities of the assigned Division(s) are consistent with the mission and within financial statutory obligations, while also assisting the Fire Chief with the administration and direction of the Department in support of Fire, Rescue, and EMS operations. May represent the Anchorage Fire Department at community events, and as liaison with municipal, state, and other public safety agencies.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and eleven (11) years of professional experience in finance, budget, project management, and/or strategic planning. OR Associate's degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and nine (9) years of professional experience in finance, budget, project management, and/or strategic planning. OR Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and seven (7) years of professional experience in finance, budget, project management, and/or strategic planning. OR Master's degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related discipline and five (5) years of professional experience in finance, budget, project management, and/or strategic planning. All applicants must possess and/or obtain: Valid State of Alaska driver's license with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
