Credit Union 1 (CU1) is seeking a Courier that will complete secure and time-sensitive deliveries between CU1's departments, branches and external organizations in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Driven by care, this position supports employees and members by ensuring accurate, safe, and efficient transport of mail, packages, supplies, and critical documents. Responsible for all courier items and assisting with operational and facilities-related projects. Communicates professionally and courteously at all times while representing CU1's commitment to excellent service. In all dealings with the public, members or employees, responsibility or ownership is taken, and pending issues are monitored to resolution.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, service-oriented professional who is prompt, organized, safety-conscious, and takes pride supporting the daily operations of the credit union.

This position is based out of our Abbott Headquarters' (1941 Abbott Rd.) and frequently travels between our various branch locations.

Pay Range: $20.03 - $27.94

In line with our salary administration policy, starting base salaries for new hires typically fall in-between the minimum and midpoint of the designated pay range.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver and pick up work for various credit union branches and departments including but not limited to:
  1. Department of Motor Vehicles
  2. Courier requests
  3. Special deliveries or mailings
  • Responsible for the daily pickup, sorting, preparation, and delivery of mail to and from the post office. Handles all deliveries to and from CU1 branches, including packages from WPX, FedEx, UPS, and occasional cargo pickups from various airlines. Ensures all items are transported in a timely, safe, and secure manner. Maintains proper chain of custody and adheres to established procedures for the secure handling and delivery of all materials.
  • Assist the Purchasing and Operations department's fulfilling supply orders from the warehouse and ensuring timely delivery to internal departments and branches. Assists the Purchasing Agent with inventory audits and helps maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective control and tracking practices.
  • Collect shred and recycling from secure shred bins in each department at HQ on a weekly basis for scheduled vendor pick up
  • Support CU1's sustainability initiatives by collecting recycling on a scheduled basis at Headquarters. Coordinates the collection and delivery of recyclable materials to the Anchorage Recycling Center as needed. Ships recyclable toner cartridges to HP on behalf of the Purchasing department, also on an as-needed basis.
  • Clean, maintain, and organize the mail room, warehouse, and storage units. Stores and retrieves materials and supplies as necessary to maintain an organized and safe environment.
  • Assist the Facilities and Physical Security team in performing emergency evacuation drills.
  • Perform administration tasks across multiple mailing and logistic sites, such as USPS, FedEx and others. Responsibilities include adding and removing user accounts, assisting employees with site-related issues, and maintaining an up-to-date list of registered users.
  • Assist purchasing agent with procuring items as needed, including for the Learning Center, departments, and branches. Assists department with minor facility maintenance requests at the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Keep the Headquarters Building free of trash and debris year-round and maintains sidewalks during winter months, making sure that they are free of ice and snow at all times as needed.
  • Assist the commercial driver with maintenance requests and upkeep of all fleet vehicles for cleanliness, compliance with safety standards, and scheduled routine maintenance.
  • Operate the assigned credit union vehicle in a safe manner, in accordance with Alaska State laws. Maintains a driving record that complies with the Credit Union Vehicle Policy and reports all at-fault accidents and moving violations, both work-related and personal, to the Administration's Management. Will maintain a clean credit union vehicle and notify management of any maintenance issues.
  • May provide logistical and operational support for offsite events, including setup, transportation coordination, and ensuring regulatory compliance for the mobile branch. Some schedules may occur outside of standard business hours.
  • Conduct (HQ/Anchorage) breakroom reviews at least once a (week/month) to ensure a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a cooperative attitude toward all credit union departments, branches and with the public. Represents the credit union in a positive manner.
  • Meet current department standards in the completion of all assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes and have a driving record that is in compliance with the Credit Union Vehicle Policy.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • One year customer service experience preferred.
  • One to two years' courier or commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Neat appearance and courteous attitude required.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).
