Line Cook Position

Hilltop Ski Area is seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our food service team. In this role, you will prepare and cook menu items with consistency, quality, and care. You'll ensure every dish is presented properly and delivered promptly, following standardized recipes and procedures to reduce waste and maintain efficiency.

Our ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will help keep the line fully stocked, neat, clean, and safe while working collaboratively with teammates to provide an excellent dining experience for our guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare and cook menu items on burners, grills, fryers, and ovens, following standardized recipes and presentations
  • Plate and present dishes accurately, including fried items, chips, fries, and appetizers
  • Follow prep lists and maintain pars accurately
  • Ensure proper hold times for all fried products

Sanitation & Maintenance

  • Sanitize work areas and equipment before, during, and after shifts
  • Complete daily/weekly cleaning and fryer maintenance
  • Assist with dishwashing and assigned janitorial duties
  • Stock and restock line items according to specifications

Guest Service & Sales

  • Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner to ensure satisfaction
  • Enter and complete orders in the POS system, process payments, and make change
  • Suggestively sell food and beverage items
  • Check identification, monitor alcohol service, and follow responsible beverage practices

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Model exceptional guest service, teamwork, professionalism, and safety awareness
  • Support colleagues across departments and contribute to a positive, inclusive culture
  • Maintain company standards for uniform, grooming, and hygiene
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Current Municipality of Anchorage food handler's card and TAP certification
  • Previous short-order cooking experience (grill, fryer, etc.)
  • Knowledge of culinary industry practices, food handling, and workplace safety
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and process orders accurately, and judge food quality and quantity
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
  • Ability to suggestively sell food and beverage items
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and carries tubs and cases weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee must frequently communicate with expediters and servers and read orders on tickets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards, including, but not limited to, cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands.
