Job Description

Services and maintains a variety of vehicles and equipment such as performing oil changes, fluid level checks, lubrication of moving parts, and checking batteries. Assists mechanics in the repair and maintenance of a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and other pieces of equipment. Cleans and maintains shop work areas including removal of snow, and debris. Properly disposes of discarded oil and other servicing related materials. Dismounts, repairs, performs mounting, balancing and removing/replacing of tires at various locations. Maintains a harmonious work environment. Assists in shop cleanup, moving vehicles to/from the shop. Utilizes the equipment maintenance management software to document work performed. Must provide own standard tools of the trade. Performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and completion of an approved journeyman mechanic apprenticeship program. OR High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year of automotive, construction equipment, transit bus, and truck maintenance and repair experience. All applicants must possess and/or complete: Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire. A valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory full driving record at time of hire.

The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization, and shows the name, signature, title, and contact information of the signer providing the statement of service.
