Sr. Project Manager w/ Energy Experience - Contract (12-month)

Anchorage, Alaska (or surrounding areas)

Work Setting: Hybrid (with travel throughout Alaska as project needs require)

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects throughout Anchorage, Alaska, and surrounding markets. This role calls for a proven leader who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives are consistently achieved. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in project management, stakeholder coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management. Experience in the energy sector-including oil & gas, utilities, renewable energy, transmission and distribution, or industrial projects-is highly desirable, as is familiarity with technology, operational technology (OT), or cybersecurity-related initiatives. This is a great opportunity to lead high-profile, impactful projects and contribute to the development of critical infrastructure and energy resources across Alaska.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of project execution from initiation through closeout.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost controls, change orders, and profitability.
  • Facilitate client meetings, progress reviews, and executive-level reporting.
  • Oversee procurement activities and subcontractor management.
  • Mentor and develop project managers, project engineers, and support staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support business development efforts, including proposal development, estimating support, and client relationship management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive project management experience, including leadership of large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling tools, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and project controls.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout Alaska as project needs require.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Energy industry experience (oil & gas, utilities, renewable energy, transmission/distribution, power generation, or industrial facilities).
  • Strong understanding of substations and switch yards.
  • Experience managing technology, operational technology (OT), or cybersecurity-related projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or engineering background.
  • Familiarity with Alaska permitting, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements; experience with EPC, industrial construction, capital improvement projects, or remote/challenging environments.
