Description:

We are currently seeking a Cook to join our team in Alaska. The Cook is responsible for the preparation and safe handling of food, including baking, broiling, grilling, braising, poaching, and cold preparation items, while maintaining a high level of safety and sanitation on a boat in Alaska.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a sanitary environment for all staff on the project
  • Plan a cooking schedule to ensure foods will be ready at specified times
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, utensils, and work areas in accordance with governing health and safety standards
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and proper cooking standards
  • Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, including scales, mixers, grinders, and slicers, to prepare menu items
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking by grilling, frying, steaming, or baking
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of food stores for meals while keeping storage spaces and coolers organized and rotated
  • Conserve, properly store, and use leftovers and leftover raw materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Current food handler's permit

Knowledge/Skills
  • Current Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification
  • Ability to successfully complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions

Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Ability to work any day of the week, both night and day, on a boat in navigation in Alaska
