This position is open to Alaska residents only. The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for a full-time Office Assistant 2 located in Anchorage, Alaska. As an Office Assistant 2, you will provide a full range of administrative services, playing a vital role in the workflow of the office, which greatly contributes to our mission of strengthening Alaska's families and children. You will perform a range of duties, including complex data entry, creating and maintaining files and records, and back up support for other assigned administrative duties.

This position is located in the Anchorage regional office off of Tudor and C Street, within walking distance to amenities, shopping, dining, arts and much more.

We are seeking a candidate with the following competencies:

  1. Clerical: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, and using and completing forms.
  2. Computer skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  3. Customer service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside state government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  4. Reading comprehension: Comprehends and correctly applies information presented in written form. Makes correct inferences; draws accurate conclusions.
  5. Oral communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Special note:

All positions require a successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.

Additionally, while the division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the state.

The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.
