Description:

The Alaska Department of Public Safety (DPS), Commissioner's Office, Office of Tribal Affairs is seeking a Program Coordinator I to support tribal liaison initiatives and strengthen relationships with Alaska Native tribes, communities and organizations. This position serves as an advisor to the Commissioner's Office, promoting meaningful consultation and collaboration with tribal communities statewide. A hybrid telework agreement may be available after a probationary period.Qualifications and CompetenciesInterpersonal Skills : Essential for building and maintaining relationships with Alaska tribes, tribal organizations, and diverse communities.Organizational Awareness : Critical for understanding the department's mission, policies, and how to navigate the organizational structure.Problem Solving : Necessary for identifying and resolving challenges that arise in tribal consultation and program initiatives.Adaptability : Important for adjusting to changing tribal needs and department priorities.Integrity/Honesty : Fundamental for maintaining trust and ensuring ethical interactions with tribal governments and organizations.Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems.Compliance: knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.Decision Making: makes sound, well-informed, objective decisions; perceives impact and implications of decisions.Planning and Evaluating: organizes work, sets priorities, determines resource requirements, coordinates with other organizations.Education or experience: Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and/or procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.Background CheckThis position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.
