The primary purpose of this position is: To ensure adequate force protection support is maintained for resources and personnel and provides expertise and managementsupport for the installation/wing Intrusion Detection System (IDS) program. Responsibilities Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Provides program management and acts as the focal point for all matters involving the IDS supporting the installation/wing PL 1-4 restricted and controlled areas. Integrated Defense operations, ensuring IDS requirements are met for the installation's PL 1-4 resources. Serves as Security Forces Plans, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Unit Control Center(UCC) Certification and Training Program Assistant. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the office of personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-0086, Security and Assistance Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06 grade level position for External Candidates, or GS-05 grade level position for Current or Prior Federal Employees, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience knowledge of the physical security and resource protection programs to plan and recommend the installation of multi-layered security technologies; Knowledge of security forces security systems, concepts, principles and practices including force protection, antiterrorism, resource protection, physical security, integrated base defense, OPSEC, crime prevention, and law enforcement program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. External Candidates must have served one year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. Current or Prior Federal Employees must have served one year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of security forces security systems, concepts, principles and practices including force protection, antiterrorism, resource protection, physical security, integrated base defense, OPSEC, crime prevention, and law enforcement program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology. Knowledge of the AF overall and AF Security Forces missions, functions, and structure at the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of program plans and processes. Knowledge of security systems, practices, principles, and procedures utilized in other DoD agencies, as well as private industry, to ensure up-to-date security applications. Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and projects and effectively evaluate results for the management and completion of programs. Ability to read and understand written and oral directives and guidance, and skill in oral and written communication methods and techniques at various levels and venues. Ability to effectively manage and organize various program activities and tasks, singularly and together, and familiar with Air Force and local administrative requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
