Job Description:
Demonstrates leadership in safety; this requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors that may lead to accidents.
Plans and directs daily predictive and preventative maintenance work for a crew; schedules crews, parts, supplies, tools, and transportation required to complete maintenance tasks; reviews and updates status of maintenance activities of on-going projects.
Develops, implements, and maintains assigned areas within the computerized maintenance management system (Maximo). Creates PMs, enters data, and opens and closes WOs to maintain accurate maintenance records; proposes changes to improve the system; trains personnel in proper utilization of the system.
Initiates repairs and requisitions materials required in machinery maintenance; ensures all parts required for planned maintenance are on-site and verified prior to need date.
Supervises maintenance activities during major maintenance and projects ensuring that each is completed in a timely and safe manner, within budget.
Plans and prepares budget forecasts for major maintenance and projects; compares forecast to actual expenditures and takes corrective action as required.
Maintains a five (5) year look ahead plan of needed work and projects. Works across functional groups for coordination and planning.
Coordinates maintenance activities with Operations Managers and responds to requests for corrective maintenance.
Management and coordination of contractors performing work on and off site.
Is responsible for the development of inspection schedules for major and minor work and preventive or predictive maintenance; effectively uses the work management system to initiate and track maintenance activities.
Prepares, organizes, and reviews appropriate documents, overhaul records, work orders and technical reports prior to each maintenance project; during projects, drafts technical reports and completes annual inspection checklists for inclusion into final reports; performs final review of overhaul reports and verifies all necessary overhaul documentation is included.
Assists in execution of maintenance support contracts as assigned including development of work scope, quality assurance, change management, and cost control.
Experience
Minimum of seven years' experience supervising, inspecting, repairing, and overhauling rotating machinery with emphasis on combustion turbines and hydroelectric turbine-generators is required. Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs required. Experience working in a union environment preferred.
Substitution
10 years of experience, formal training, and education in the maintenance of gas and steam turbines, including auxiliary systems, at a craft journey level, may be substituted for the education requirements.
