Cloud & DevOps Engineer Job Description - Aerospace and Defense

CalTek Staffing is hiring Cloud / DevOps Engineers to support aerospace and defense programs across Los Angeles and Orange County, California. These hybrid roles focus on designing, automating, and securing mission-critical cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines that support regulated, high-reliability systems.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers who excel at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and software engineering, and who are eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Cloud / DevOps Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage secure cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting controlled, auditable deployments
• Automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security in production environments
• Support production deployments, incident response, and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers to improve deployment workflows
• Implement security, compliance, and governance best practices aligned with aerospace and defense standards

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform:
  
  • AWS (including GovCloud), Azure, or GCP
• Hands-on experience with:
  
  • CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Containerization and orchestration experience:
  
  • Docker, Kubernetes (EKS, ECS)
• Strong Linux systems administration skills
• Scripting and automation experience (Bash, Python)
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical systems
• Familiarity with regulated environments (DoD, ITAR, NIST, FedRAMP, ISO)
• SRE experience or on-call rotation exposure
• Monitoring and observability tools:
  
  • Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch
• Cloud security, identity management, and governance experience

• Cloud: AWS (EKS, ECS, EC2, Lambda, GovCloud)
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins
• Monitoring: Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus
• Security: IAM, secrets management, compliance tooling

Work Environment

• Hybrid schedule (combination of onsite and remote)
• Onsite work required due to program and security requirements

Compensation & Engagement Types

• Direct Hire: $150,000 - $180,000 base salary (W2, DOE)
• Contract-to-hire options may be available depending on program
