The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), at the Anchorage International Airport, is looking to fill multiple Emergency Services Dispatcher 1 positions to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:

The Airport Emergency Services Dispatcher (ESD 1) is a 24/7 operation that serves as a primary communications link between Air Traffic Control, Airport Police & Fire, airport tenants and the traveling public, as well as many other entities. The ESD1's staff and operate the Airport's Communication Center (ACC) which handles all calls; both emergent in nature and for routine customer service. They also monitor the airport's security and fire systems for any alarms that may occur. The top priority of the center is to monitor communications with Air Traffic Control and to coordinate appropriate responses to aviation emergencies for our First Responders.

The working environment you can expect:

This position is located at the Airport's Communication Center (ACC) within the airport property. The ACC is a facility with 4 workstations and a minimum of 2 ESD 1's, working (3) thirteen hours shifts per week. Shifts include (2) fifteen-minute paid breaks and a (30) minute unpaid lunch. Shift hours and workdays are pending staffing. Daily work environment includes and is not limited to answering calls for service, (on phone lines and multi frequency and agency radio systems), data entry, providing customer service, multitasking, and duties assigned. Candidates must be able to obtain pertinent information from callers, process the call in CAD, prioritize the events and calmly articulate the call for service to the Responders while having room awareness of what is going on with your partner that may be dealing with a completely separate event.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of work experience. This experience must include six months of experience that entails clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
AND
The ability to type at a net speed of 30 words per minute with no more than three errors per minute.

OR

Any combination of education from an accredited college (three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month of experience), vocational education (150 hours equal one month of experience), and/or work experience may substitute for up to 18 months of non-specific work experience.

Special Note:
Specific positions in this job class may require incumbents to be Emergency Medical Certified, Emergency Police Certified, or Emergency Fire Dispatch Certified.

Shift work may be required.

A background investigation will be required upon initial employment.

This job class requires individuals to multitask and maintain emotional control and composure to work effectively during emergencies, crisis situations, and/or extremely stressful conditions.

AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE
Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation, along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.

APSIN CLEARANCE
Candidates for this position must obtain and maintain Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) certification, which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. A felony conviction disqualifies a person from APSIN certification. Misdemeanor convictions may also disqualify a person from APSIN certification, depending on the circumstances. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation.
