The Forklift Operator shall move materials to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks and into railroad cars, trucks or storage areas. They are responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift and the proper operation of the forklift. In addition, is responsible for participating in cross training efforts for specific plant needs and sharing those duties with other drivers. Duties also include the completion of all required quality tests and inspections and notifying supervisors of any observed concerns in the production area related to either product handled or the safety of the facility./ph3Essential Job Functions/h3ulliLoad/Unload trailers in a safe manner/liliMaterial grading/liliPlacing processed material into inventory storage/liliMonitor bale weights/liliComplete all appropriate paperwork/liliPerform pre-shift forklift inspection/liliPerform routine preventive maintenance/liliMaintains a basic knowledge of operations and procedures in all production departments./liliMaintain safe and clean work environment/liliCompletes all assigned trainings./liliActive participant in the Health and Safety programs of WestRock/liliPerforms other job duties as needed./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3ulliMust have high school diploma or G.E.D./liliMust have ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos./liliMust have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals./liliMust have ability to perform intermediate arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc./liliMust pass background check and pre-employment drug screening/liliMust be willing to work overtime as needed./liliMust be able to maintain good attendance./liliMust be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation./li/ulh3Physical Demands/h3pThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
