Prep CookRevision Date: 8/20/2024Department: EducationEmployment Status: Full-TimeProgram: Education OperationsFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Food Services CoordinatorSupervises: N/APreference: TERO Ordinance 201-01, P.L. 93-638Job SummaryThe Prep Cook is responsible for providing support to the Cook and Assistant Cooks by prepping and measuring ingredients needed for meal preparation, washing dishes, restocking ingredients and kitchen supplies, conducting weekly shopping trips to maintain needed inventory, taking out the trash, and adhering to DEC and USDA guidelines.Essential Functions* Measures and preps needed ingredients for meals* Washes dishes, sweeps, mops, cleans equipment (including the grease trap), takes out the garbage, and helps maintain a sanitized environment that meets health code standards* Restocks ingredients and kitchen supplies as needed* Supports in the preparation and the cooking of a variety of food following USDA-CACFP guidelines* Conducts weekly shopping trips with approved inventory list and budget* Performs as a team member within the kitchen, and when sharing workspace with the other staff* Respects Tribal equipment, including vehicles* Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinanceIt is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list.
