Professor (Associate/Full)

You will serve as Professor (Associate/Full) at the TSC, Arctic Security Studies. This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. As a Professor (Associate/Full) at the AD-1701-7 some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Educate, connect, and empower international and U.S. leaders and security practitioners on Arctic security and defense challenges and opportunities.
• Make positive contributions to a collegial, team-centric working environment based on the core values of transparency, and mutual respect.
• Create and present executive education content that spurs discussion, reflection, and learning among program participants.
• Facilitate objective-based discussions among fellows that encourage consolidation of learning and critical reasoning.
• Contribute to distinguished visitor engagements with subject matter expertise.
• Perform various administrative and institutional duties to support the executive education functions of the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies.
• Develop, manage, coordinate, conduct, and assess all aspects of academic engagements, including on-line and in-person courses, workshops, and partnerships.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed (NTE) three (3) years. Term appointments may be extended thereafter in one, two, or three year increments, indefinitely. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical and dental benefits, life insurance, and retirement. You will also be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave. You may qualify at the AD-07, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the AD-05 grade level in the Federal service:
• Proven ability teaching and seminar facilitation at the postsecondary level.
• Proven expert experience developing and delivering course curriculum.
• General understanding of U.S. National Security.
• Expert knowledge of the Arctic and its complexities including history, geography, environment, politics, economics, population, demographics, and culture.
• Ability to collaborate with peers, leadership, and subordinates.
• AND Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Seeking Professor with specialty in the following subject area: Arctic Military Strategy: Provide thoughtful leadership and insight to analyze the development of military plans and doctrine, supporting the TSC's School of Arctic Security Studies. Apply previous military and current department of war experience to analyze the development of new or updated Arctic and defense strategies, plans, policies, and guidance. Advise on the implementation of new ideas, procedures, processes, methods, or approaches of substantial scope, difficulty, and complexity in the areas of short- or long-range strategic planning, strategic development, strategic deployment, continuing improvement initiatives, or program integration. Have a working knowledge/experience at the Pentagon, geographic combatant command (preference for either NORTHCOM or EUCOM) and in the Arctic/high latitudes.
