What You Will Be Doing: This position performs research on various criminal records from local and state agencies and is responsible for processing arrest and disposition information into the state's criminal history repository. Additionally, the position coordinates and responds to requests for record reviews from the department, criminal justice agencies, and the public and coordinates with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, courts, and correctional facilities to obtain source documents for criminal history events.

The Working Conditions You Can Expect: This position is located in East Anchorage in the Department of Public Safety's (DPS) Headquarters building at 5700 East Tudor Road, which includes the following: the Chugach Mountains providing the backdrop for the building, ample parking, public transportation drop points located directly in front of the building, and paved trails adjacent to the building. Individual office space for this position is co-located with other criminal records unit staff to encourage team building and collaborative efforts.

This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at level 1, promotion to level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
