Water Resources Engineer- Project Engineer

BAI is actively seeking a Project Engineer for the Water Resources Engineering Division in our Columbia, Maryland office.
Job Summary
The project engineer will work under the direction of the project manager and will be the lead designer on a project within the appropriate discipline. The individual shall demonstrate an ability to collaboratively work with a group (or independently) on a wide-range of small or large scale multi-discipline projects for state, county, or local jurisdictions. Job requires analytical thinking, adaptive and independent problem solving, creativity, innovation, and ability to utilize design engineers to complete task assignments. Employee shall be dependable, open-minded, focused, and attentive to details including: project schedules, budgets, and design quality.
Responsibilities and Duties
The qualified candidate will demonstrate the ability to coordinate design elements across various engineering disciplines with other project engineers for the development of plans, specifications, and estimates. The individual shall communicate design progress with project managers and utilize entry-level design engineers to complete tasks. The individual shall be knowledgeable on the design procedures or practices for the applicable client, as well as, maintain a firm understanding on the permit process for various permit review agencies. Responsibilities include lead designer for project development including but not limited to: roadway drainage, open and closed drainage systems, environmental site design, stormwater management (SWM), erosion/sediment control, stream restoration, bridge scour analysis, floodplain studies, hydrology/hydraulics, TMDL, Critical Area, NPDES & MS-4 permits, SWM retrofits and BMPs, Joint-Permit Application (JPA).
