POSITION SUMMARY:

Floor Technicians are responsible for basic floor care and maintenance in patient care, clinical, and public areas throughout the Alaska Native Medical Center accredited campus. This role supports sanitation and aesthetic standards through routine tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, refinishing floors, and operating floor care equipment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

All

Perform general floor cleaning duties such as sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, and vacuuming.

Safely operate auto-scrubbers, carpet extractors, and other commercial floor care equipment.

Maintain cleanliness of lobbies, corridors, stairwells, and other high-traffic areas.

Ensure signage is posted and safety protocols are followed when working in public areas.

Assist with moving furniture and setting up areas for cleaning.

Performs daily maintenance on floor care equipment before and after each use.

Maintains documentation scheduled and non-scheduled work orders.

Performs other duties as assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN LEVEL II

Strip, scrub, refinish, and seal hard floor surfaces using appropriate equipment and chemicals.

Complete weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance on floor care equipment.

Perform scheduled deep cleaning of floors in patient areas and procedural rooms.

Respond to service calls for urgent spills or floor hazards, ensuring timely resolution.

Support daily inspection and maintenance of floor care equipment and report issues promptly.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to complete assigned floor maintenance projects.

Track work completion and support inventory control of floor care supplies and materials.

Provide training to new or junior staff on equipment and floor care practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of hospital safety standards and infection prevention procedures.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Ability to use and maintenance industrial floor care equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Level I: None

Level II: High school diploma or GED

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Level I: Non - supervisory - two (2) years of work experience,

Level II: Non - supervisory - Four (4) years of work experience, one (1) of which was in healthcare environmental services.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Level I: Basic Life Support (BLS) card within six (6) months of hire.

Level II: Basic Life Support (BLS) card within six (6) months of hire.

IICRC Certified Floor Care Technician (FCT), or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non - supervisory - Four (4) years of work experience in a healthcare environment.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

AHE Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST), or equivalent. And IICRC Certified Floor Care Technician (FCT), or equivalent.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Depending on the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas.
