Supervisor of Flight Data Communication Specialists

Summary: Supervisor of Flight Data Communication Specialists (FDCS) in a Level 10 En Route facility. Accomplishes tasks assigned to the organization directly through supervision of subordinate employees. Personally directs the work of the employees assigned. Also assigns work, sets priorities and provides technical assistance to subordinate employees. Monitors/evaluates performance, coaches/develops employee capabilities, approves leave, and takes/recommends corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate.

Duties:

  • Participates directly with the management team of the facility with full responsibility for Flight Data and Communications Operations which includes: flight data processing; Defense Communications System (DCS) computers and communications circuits; flight plan entries into the Enroute National Airspace System (NAS) HOST system; and monitoring of the Aeronautical Information System Replacement (AISR) for all incoming traffic.
  • Provides communications/air traffic control data services, notices to airmen (NOTAMS) and a variety of other data related to flight safety, for the Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) and other FAA Terminal facilities.
  • Serves as COMSEC (Communications Security) Manager, which is responsible for managing and controlling accountable COMSEC material in the COMSEC Material Control System (CMCS) charged to this activity.
  • Serves as a Classified Information Security Manager (CISM) principle advisor and representative to management in matters about classifying/declassifying/downgrading/safeguarding classified information; limits access to classified information to cleared people with a need-to-know; keeps a list of personnel w/in the organization who have access to classified information.
  • Resolves routine problems independently, but consults with higher-level management when required. May assist in development of new policies/procedures.

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • A one-year supervisor/managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Candidates must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or pay band (FV-F/G or GS 9-11) that demonstrates knowledge of and skill in the use of FAA air traffic control procedures.
