The CJIS Administrator 2 provides statewide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program within the Department of Public Safety. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of Alaska's criminal history records, fingerprint identification, and justice information systemsdirectly supporting law enforcement and justice agencies statewide.

The working conditions you can expect:

This position is based at the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Headquarters, located at 5700 East Tudor Road in East Anchorage. The facility offers ample on-site parking and is directly served by public transportation. Scenic paved trails and views of the Chugach Mountains surround the building, providing a pleasant work environment. Your office is co-located with your Deputy CJIS Administrator and other members of the management team. Occasional out-of-state travel is required to attend national conferences.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of training and/or education in criminal justice, justice programs, political science, planning, business or public administration, business management, computer science, or a closely related field; and/or progressively responsible professional experience, which includes lead and/or supervisory experience in law, law enforcement or adjudication, corrections, criminal justice planning, adult or juvenile justice, and/or crime prevention.

  • A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are acceptable but must include the institution name/URL on documents provided) if required to meet minimum qualifications.

  • A list of three (3) professional references including daytime telephone numbers and email address; at least two (2) of these must be from a current or former supervisor.

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.

The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
