UIC Commercial seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to provide leadership in accounting operations, maintain the integrity of financial reporting, and support organizational growth. The position is responsible for managing a team of accountants, directing the month‑end close process, and partnering on strategic financial initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
• Responsible for entire P‑Card process from collecting statements through issuing manual check.
• Manage escheatment process.
• Coordinate on audits and liaise with external auditors and tax consultants.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage Timberline and general ledger and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• The ability to work accurately and independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in job/project‑based accounting.
• Previous experience working for Alaska Native Corporations.
• Previous experience with Sage Timberline.
