The Diabetes Management Educator at Providence Health and Services plays a vital role in providing expert consultation and education on inpatient glycemia management and diabetes prevention for patients, families, and healthcare providers. This position involves utilizing advanced diabetes-related technology such as continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, delivering personalized patient care, and leading educational programs for clinical staff.

Job Summary

As a highly skilled consultant, the Diabetes Management Educator will focus on inpatient glycemia management and will educate patients, families, caregivers, and providers on diabetes management and prevention strategies. The role requires expertise in diabetes technology and a commitment to comprehensive patient assessment and personalized care based on individual needs, including age, cultural considerations, and medical history. The educator will also ensure the effective use of educational technology to boost knowledge and skills among those managing diabetes. Additionally, this position involves the planning, development, and implementation of staff development programs aimed at enhancing the skills of nursing and clinical staff. Continuous participation in related education is also expected.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position, 1.0 FTE, with 8-hour day shifts, totaling 40 hours per week. Join our team at Providence Alaska Medical Center, where your contributions will truly matter!

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field such as Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a health-related field such as Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Training or coursework in Health Education
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in providing diabetes education within a multi-disciplinary clinical environment
  • At least 3 years of experience as a healthcare professional, including in a hospital inpatient setting

Additional Information:

This position is based at the Providence Alaska Medical Center, located at 3200 Providence Dr, Anchorage, AK. The pay range for this role is $40.11 - $62.27 per hour, with additional compensation opportunities available.
