Salary DOE: ($30.12-$32.94)

The SSG Fox Case Worker serves as a key team member, collaborating with program staff, behavioral health clinicians, Veteran Affairs (VA) and other community health professionals to provide case management services to individuals, particularly those at risk of suicide and facing mental health or substance use challenges. The Case Worker will be responsible for coordinating services, assisting participants in setting and achieving goals, monitoring progress, and providing ongoing support. In collaboration with the Veteran Peer Support Specialist (VPSS), they will advocate for participants, ensure access to necessary resources, and foster effective communication among stakeholders. Hours of work are part-time, 25 hours a week.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required for this position in related field such as Human Services, Social Work or closely related field of study preferred. Associate degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work and/or related field; or combination of year for year education and experience in related field plus two years of case management experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Prefer two years of work experience working with Veterans, active-duty military and their families and some knowledge of the VA healthcare system. Candidates must demonstrate a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency, and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of veterans and other people with behavioral health and substance misuse recovery challenges and their families. Case Manager must demonstrate the ability to establish working relationships with behavioral health and substance misuse consumers, provide direct assistance with access to community resources, facilitate or co-facilitate educational workshops, support groups and recovery-oriented activities for participants and their families. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, employees, other organizations, and the public organizations. Ability to manage and coordinate program goals and objectives with minimal amount of supervision. Ability to prepare and present effective oral and/or written reports in required format. Willingness and means to travel and have a valid Alaska driver's license. Willingness to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Ability to frequently travel to multiple remote locations. Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and email. Interest and knowledge of the Native lifestyle and culture. Preferred skills: Mental Health First Aid, S.A.V.E.?or QPR Gatekeeper Trainer, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and/or other culturally relevant practice-based interventions.
