The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician 3 based out of the Anchorage Probation Office in Anchorage, Alaska.

What you will be doing:

  • Supervise and oversee the department's Institutional Discharge Project Plus (IDP+) and Assess, Plan, Identify and Coordinate (APIC) programs that provide transitional services for mentally ill inmates releasing back into the community.
  • Coordinate case management of program referrals including determining program eligibility, consulting on cases, identifying resources, and working with community partners.
  • This position, and the team of five mental health clinicians it supervises, all work closely with program clients and involved parties, including institutional clinicians, community resources, probation officers, guardians, attorneys, and Mental Health Courts to secure the best possible solution for a release.

The working environment you can expect:

This position is located in an office setting at the Anchorage Probation Office in downtown Anchorage. This position works closely with a team of reentry mental health clinicians, institutional staff, and community partners.

  • Psychology: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Supervision: Plans, distributes, and monitors work assignments; sets task priorities; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Assignments include the authority and responsibility to recommend or independently take action to employ (i.e., appoint, transfer, promote), discipline or discharge, or adjudicate grievances of direct reports.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
