JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Head Start Health and Nutrition Coordinator

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Reports to: APIA Head Start Program Coordinator - Anchorage

Work Schedule: Full Time - 37.5 hrs. per week

Salary: DOE & Education

Duties: Plans and manages work to assure that the Head Start Program is compliant with all Federal and State Head Start health, safety and nutrition performance standards. Oversees implementation of policies and procedures for health and nutrition program components. Provides education in health, safety and nutrition for staff, children and parents. Coordinates Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in each site and maintains all required food program records, including the CACFP grant application, reports, claims, and other paperwork.

Qualifications: BA in Health or Nutrition or minimum of three years' experience in Head Start in health and nutrition component preferred. Knowledge of state and federal safety and sanitation, immunization requirements, computers, and Child Plus system. Willingness to travel, able to work independently with minimal supervision, take training, and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Successful candidate must demonstrate adequate annual progress towards obtaining a bachelor's degree each year, if no degree is in place at the time of hire.

Requirements: Upon date of hire, must provide documentation of current TB test and Hepatitis screening/vaccination status; pre-employment health exam; criminal history background clearance and be willing to obtain a CPR and First Aid Certification and a State of Alaska Food Protection Manager certification.
