Overview
HDR is looking for a Senior Construction Consultant to join our national Trenchless Services team. This role reports to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead and has primary responsibilities supporting the execution of design and field services associated with trenchless services: engineering, design, and construction applications.
Responsibilities
- Provide Construction Oversight for Trenchless installations.
- Conduct constructability reviews of Trenchless engineering efforts.
- Conduct daily reviews of deliverables for Trenchless construction activities.
- Conduct site visits during preliminary engineering efforts.
- Conduct Route Assessments for Trenchless aspects of Pipeline Siting & Routing efforts.
- Coordinate Trenchless Construction Oversight activities (staffing, CM scopes).
- Support Business Development for Trenchless services through client interface.
- Coordinate subcontractor activity, scheduling, and quality control.
- Prepare the Project Management Plan or Construction Management Plan.
- Develop procedures for construction contract administration and implement them with the project team, including document, change, time, cost, quality, and safety management.
- Perform related construction management activities (procurement, schedules, subcontract scopes, VE reviews, estimating, schedule reviews, and presentation of project construction performance).
- Administer and manage construction activities and monitor design progress relative to construction requirements.
- Perform value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Coordinate local bidding efforts for quotes obtained in the field.
- Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages.
- Coordinate document management and review submittals, shop drawings, and pay applications.
- Prepare, issue, and negotiate Change Orders.
- Review and analyze baseline and updated construction schedules; control project budget and schedule.
- Coordinate and manage project quality assurance, control, and inspection services.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections.
- Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, and progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Take responsibility for project setup and temporary facilities.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning and management, including contracts, document/time/cost/quality management, change management, site safety, estimation, bidding, procurement, scheduling, and related areas.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with Owner, Engineer, Contractor, and other stakeholders.
- Active participation in an employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE).
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
- Experience with estimating software, scheduling software, project management software, and web-based collaboration tools for document exchange.

The compensation range for this position depends on skills, experience, education, and location. The targeted salary range is $135,000 - $165,000.
