Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 – Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF)
The Division of Facilities Services invites applicants who are Alaska residents to apply for an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 position. The role supports capital projects that improve state transportation, airports, ports, and public facilities.
Salary
Pay is based on the location of the selected applicant; salaries will be discussed at the interview. Anchorage: $32.78-$43.19 hourly; Fairbanks: $33.76-$44.49 hourly; Juneau: $34.42-$45.35 hourly.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Engineering Assistant, you will perform routine architectural/engineering assignments or assist higher-level architects/engineers with a wide variety of tasks. Work involves well-defined assignments or fragments of more complex projects and is reviewed regularly.
This position functions as the Project Engineer overseeing construction projects of varying size and complexity under the supervision of a Project Manager. Responsibilities include monitoring construction activities; coordinating with contractors and design professionals; scheduling and budgeting; preparing project documentation and reports; and overseeing work performed by contractors.
Project location may vary and temporary relocation to remote communities for the duration of a construction project is highly likely. Travel in light aircraft to remote locations may also be required.

Qualifications (Engineering Assistant 1)
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an accredited institution (ABET). And an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate, or verification of passing the FE or FS examination. A conditional job offer may be offered to those who will obtain the degree within nine months.
Qualifications (Engineering Assistant 2)
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an accredited institution (ABET) and one year of entry-level experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere. Or an EIT/LSIT certificate with required experience.
Qualifications (Engineering Assistant 3)
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an accredited institution (ABET) and two years of experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level. Or an EIT certificate with required experience.

This position may be located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Work settings include office or construction site with travel to or temporary relocation to project sites as required. Valid driver's license and ability to travel by light aircraft or vehicle are required.
