Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology & Corporate Security, The I.T. Clinical Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to healthcare professionals and staff within a clinical setting. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving I.T. issues, maintaining electronic health records (EHR) systems, and ensuring seamless operation of clinical software and hardware. The specialist collaborates with clinical teams to optimize technology solutions, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance patient care.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support: Offer prompt and effective technical assistance to healthcare
    professionals, addressing issues with software, hardware, and networks.
  2. EHR System Maintenance: Ensure smooth operation and regular updates of electronic
    health records (EHR) systems, addressing any issues promptly.
  3. User Training: Conduct training sessions for clinical staff on new technologies and
    systems, enhancing their technical proficiency.
  4. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve I.T. issues related to clinical applications,
    hardware, and software efficiently.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with clinical teams to understand their I.T. needs and
    implement solutions to improve workflow and patient care.
  6. System Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize clinical I.T. systems to enhance
    efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Compliance: Ensure all I.T. systems comply with data security, privacy regulations, and
    industry standards.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of I.T. issues, solutions, and user requests to
    track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  9. Incident Management: Manage and prioritize I.T. incidents, ensuring timely resolution and
    minimal disruption to clinical operations.
  10. Consultation: Provide expert advice on IT-related matters to clinical staff and
    management.
  11. Conforms to Chugachmiut policies and HIPAA regulations
  12. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, business or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Four (4) years of technical support experience
  • Experience working with the Alaska Native Tribal Healthcare System preferred
  • Experience in cross culture setting preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Technical knowledge of EHR, Finance, HR and Records Systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, including medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, concepts of disease suffixes and roots, accepted abbreviations, and pharmaceutical terms to accurately spell diagnosis and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical record forms, formats, filing system and IHS standard codes to establish, analyze, locate, and maintain medical records.
  • Knowledge of patient care activities, and ho the services and functions interact.
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of business office administrative procedures, use and operation of standard and complex office equipment.
  • Knowledge of 1974 Privacy Act is required as use of personal information and patient records is an integral part of the position and privacy of individuals must be protected to the fullest.
  • Knowledge of the Alaska Tribal healthcare delivery environment.
  • Skill in troubleshooting computer software application in a multiple operating system environment.
  • Skill in training users in specialized software applications.
  • Skill in data collection and analysis.
  • Skill in understanding medical records procedures and protocols.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative, effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and representatives from other local, state, federal, and tribal agencies.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment and a personal computer, utilizing a variety of complex software applications, including medical billing programs.
  • Skill in conducting successful telephone consultations and operating a complex phone system.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Skill in organizing, problem solving, priority setting, and accomplishing deadlines.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and summarize various types of complex date.
  • Ability to translate technical terminology for understanding by non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, contractors, and representatives from other local, state, federal, and tribal agencies.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.

Hours of Work: Hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch.

This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week and 1950 hours per year position.

E-Verify

Chugachmiut participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with the Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the United States once a candidate is hired. If E-Verify cannot confirm authorization to work, written instructions will be provided and an opportunity to contact the Department of Homeland Security or Social Security Administration for resolution.
