Bargaining Unit: AEAElementary classroom teachers create a flexible and supportive education program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. They provide instruction at an appropriate grade level, establishing rapport with students, parents, and staff. Teachers motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a solid educational foundation. They report to and are evaluated by the site principal.
This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate. The number of work days depends on the AEA negotiated pay scale. The grade level, content area, and work site may change based on enrollment and staffing needs. Positions from 0.50 to 1.0 FTE are associated with the Alaska Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), while those from 0.40 to 0.49 FTE are associated with the Alaska Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Positions 0.39 FTE or less are not eligible for state retirement benefits.
