Summary:
Under supervision, provides endoscopic procedural assistance and ensures a safe environment for patients and staff in the endoscopy procedural settings. Assists the physicians and registered nurses with patient care procedures.
Responsibilities:
Provides technical endoscopic assistance during routine and complex endoscopic procedures. Responds to endoscopic emergencies in the crucial care unit, emergency department, and operating room. Anticipates the needs of the providers. Assists with the monitoring of the patient for potentially dangerous physical changes, recognizes abnormal findings, and notified the provider. Facilitates safe and effective performance of endoscopic procedures. Assists registered nurses, as directed, with patient care to include placing monitoring equipment on patient, positioning, transfer, and discharge.
Ensures endoscopy room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and that endoscopic procedures and conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Develops and maintains safe and aseptic procedural field.
Completes High Level Disinfection process of endoscopy equipment. Maintains standard precautions to control the spread of infection during the HLD process, complies with quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure equipment is disinfected and stored properly and documents accordingly.
Inspects and verified endoscopy instruments and equipment are functioning properly. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and readjusts equipment or refers for repair.
Sets up instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Stocks the endoscopy areas, including the traveling carts. Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Endoscopy Technician II
Act as a preceptor for new hire employees
Participates in On-Call rotation

Non-supervisory - One (1) years of patient care experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
Endoscopy Technician II
Non-supervisory - Two (2) years' experience working as an Endoscopy Technician and/or Surgical Technician. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
Endoscopy Technician III
Non-supervisory - Four (4) years' experience working as an Endoscopy Technician.
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Endo Tech I
Completion of Society of Gastroenterology Nurse and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) Associates Program is required within 1 year of employment.
Current Basic Life Support card required.
Endoscopy Technician II &III
Completion of Society of Gastroenterology Nurse and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) Associates Program.
Completion of Society of Gastroenterology Nurse and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) Advanced Associates Program.
