This Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area. The responsibilities include assisting residents with general information, obtaining products, washing objects, preparing food following standard food handling procedures, and cleaning dishes and utensils. Additionally, the role involves maintaining product levels, stocking storage areas, cleaning dining, kitchen, or storage areas, supporting a safety program, removing garbage, setting up or breaking down tables, and assisting with large cleaning projects. The position may occasionally involve preparing food or cooking vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc. Other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, preference for candidates with at least six months of experience in the food service industry, possession of a Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire, knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment, and the ability to provide immunization records for tuberculosis (TB) or be willing to take the vaccination if offered the job. Employees must also speak, understand, read, and write English.
Working conditions include an indoor environment in an assisted living setting, moderate noise levels, and a medium pace of work environment with high customer interaction. Physical requirements include lifting and moving up to 50lbs, sitting, standing, walking, using hands/fingers to handle or feel, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, talking/hearing, seeing, tasting/smelling, and carrying weight/lifting.
