What you will be doing:
The Emergency Program Manager 2 serves as the Section Chief for the Section of Rural and Community Health Systems. You will be a key member of the senior management team for the Division of Public Health. In this position, you will utilize your strong strategic planning skills and organizational awareness to oversee strategic short- and long-range planning, efficient management, and effective execution of program and service delivery within the division through the supervision of our Section of Rural and Community Health Systems. The Section of Rural and Community Health Systems includes five units: Health Emergency Response Operations, EMS, Trauma, Office of Healthcare Access, and Homelessness Health Intervention & Prevention. This position is responsible for managing policies, programs, personnel, grants, and budgets within Rural and Community Health Systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of managerial experience managing an organized effort to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, or recover from emergencies, disasters or terrorist events. This experience is met by service as an Emergency Program Manager 1 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Three years of managerial experience managing a program which included creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or directing the recovery from such events.

OR

A bachelor's degree, in any field, from an accredited college;
AND
Two years of experience managing a program which included creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or directing the recovery from such events.

Special Note:
A valid Alaska driver's license is required.

Some positions require the incumbent to obtain a federal security clearance.

Work may require periodic, 24-hour on-call duty and travel to remote locations in small aircraft and boats, and may involve exposure to inherently hazardous or potentially dangerous environmental conditions.
