We seek a highly experienced Engineer to drive Contact Center business transformation as we evolve from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission.

About The Role

Our Distinguished Engineer works with Staff and Senior Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve existing systems, and identify opportunities to apply knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to increase product delivery velocity and unlock new engineering capabilities. You will be a key member of the engineering staff, providing a frictionless customer experience while maintaining high standards of protection and availability. You will operate in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge from front-end UIs through back-end systems.

As a Distinguished Engineer on the Contact Center Automation team, you will:

  • Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems;
  • Build product definition and drive toward the right solution;
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle;
  • Work in a team environment utilizing AI and ML to streamline contact center operations;
  • Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality;
  • Define, create, and support reusable components/patterns from business and technology perspectives;
  • Utilize developer tooling and Azure services across the software development lifecycle for Java design, implementation, and maintenance;
  • Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems;
  • Ensure solution quality, usability, and performance;
  • Mentor and strengthen the technical expertise of the engineering and product community;
  • Influence leadership and share best practices; sponsor continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Advanced programming experience with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C#, including object-oriented design;
  • Proficient with AI/ML stack and libraries; experience shipping applied AI products;
  • Proven understanding of microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs;
  • Experience designing architecture and systems for reliability and scaling;
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts and cloud architecture;
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment;
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development lifecycle;
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms;
  • Ability to design, run experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap;
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production;
  • Track record of publications in credible conferences and journals (preferred).

Experience

  • 12+ years of professional software development within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers, Java)
  • 3+ years applied AI/ML experience
  • 10+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 6+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services
  • 6+ years of experience in CI/CD deployments and infrastructure as code

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary

$115,000.00 - $300,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Final offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, location, and market considerations. At this time, GEICO will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
