Temporary Testing Center Assistant Director

Overview

The UAA Testing Center is seeking a temporary Assistant Director to cover the position. The role supports the Director in the day-to-day management of the Testing Center at the main campus and JBER, ensuring secure, efficient, and high-quality testing services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee test administration, supervise staff and student employees, and manage testing schedules and equipment.
• Lead proctoring activities, ensure compliance with testing protocols, address technical issues, and maintain the integrity of all exams administered.
• Collect, store, and analyze data in accordance with university, national, and federal guidelines.
• Support policy development, staff training, implementation of new technologies, and collaboration with testing vendors to expand services to students, the military, and the broader community.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask, and a solid understanding of testing principles, test development, administration, and analysis. Experience with computer-based and online testing platforms, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders are essential. The candidate should be familiar with testing regulations, including ADA requirements, and capable of supervising Testing Center staff. Additional qualifications include experience in decision-making within a testing environment, fiscal management, policy implementation, online proctoring, and security surveillance. Attention to detail, accountability, and proficiency with standard office equipment are also important.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four years progressively responsible experience relevant to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Advanced computer skills, including software installation and upgrades.
  • Familiarity with how to utilize a web camera and other biometric equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform basic equipment installation that may require frequent bending and squatting.
  • Ability to walk around for extended periods of time in supervision of testing candidates.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Position Details

This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
