JOB SUMMARY: Provides programmatic and logistical support and implementation of the Statewide Calricaraq Training program which is based on the Yup'ik ancestral way of healthy living, to communities across Alaska, as well as organizations and coalition members that work with Alaska Native populations. The program will reduce interpersonal violence by promoting community well-being through Indigenous values. This evidence-based program supports work that is trauma-informed and empowers not only those affected by interpersonal violence, but also entire communities. Will work together with the Senior Manager and statewide coalition to conduct a community needs assessment and develop a strategic plan for implementation of training program. The project will provide local Calricaraq workshops and mentorship opportunities for coalition members and their organizations as well as workshops for other members of their communities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides program support to the statewide Calricaraq coalition, including all aspects of planning and hosting meetings and necessary follow-up on action items determined by the coalition.
  2. Provides logistical support for trainings, workshops, and information sessions. Connects recipients to appropriate information, service providers, and specialized trainers, as requested. Occasionally travels to rural communities to provide services, as appropriate.
  3. Assists with the planning and coordination of program-sponsored training events, including agenda planning, identifying presenters, recruiting participants, arranging for travel and lodging, and preparing training materials. Serve as a facilitator or presenter as needed.
  4. Implements and organizes records management system for filing, protection and retrieval of records, and to assure compliance with program requirements.
  5. Researches and provides content for program resource materials and educational tools. Assists with the development and maintenance of the agency's website, providing information and resources, as appropriate.
  6. Works with community leaders, program staff and program partners to publicize and promote program activities and accomplishments.
  7. Submits regular progress reports and responds to requests for information on project activities. Participates in the collection and reporting of outcome measures and other program performance measures. Provides support in the areas of evaluation, information gathering and information dissemination. Works with Supervisor to assure that reporting and budget compliance requirements of the grants are met.
  8. Participates in regular supervisory meetings and all required training.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Participates in all appropriate training functions, developing and leading workshops, presenting at conferences, etc.
  2. Networks with other RurAL CAP staff, service providers, prevention organizations and agency partners to promote the mission and goals of RurAL CAP.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB CONDITIONS:
  1. Agency is a mandated tobacco, drug and alcohol free workplace.
  2. Regular travel to rural Alaska and ability to carry out job responsibilities in rural areas without, or with limited, running water and sewer systems.
  3. Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  4. Uses computers and computer programs effectively to enter data, create spreadsheets and process information, and, develop documents, program and training materials.
  5. Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: desktop computer, telephone, copier, PC printer, and fax machine.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 35 pounds of weight by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner. This position will also be performing physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials.
  2. Regularly performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive keyboarding.
  3. Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health and/or substance abuse problems.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position, 30 -40 hours/week, to be determined based on agreement between employee and supervisor. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:

This position will have occasional travel in and outside of Alaska. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel is expected. This position will require driving one's own vehicle to and from worksites and destinations.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. BA/BS in community development, public health, education, program management, or related field plus one (1) year, or equivalent five (5) years equivalent education and work experience in the field of youth development.
  3. Technical experience in coordinating projects; excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  4. Proven ability to produce measurable results with minimal supervision.
  5. Excellent written and analytical skills.
  6. Working knowledge of rural Alaska.
  7. Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
  8. Employees are expected to remain alert, attentive, and fully engaged in their responsibilities during all working hours. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited.
  9. Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignment with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.
  10. Demonstrated intermediate level of computer skills necessary in order to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs and proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
  11. Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.
  12. Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.
  13. Must have a valid driver's License and maintain a valid driver's license throughout the course of employment. Must provide a copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles annually.
  14. Must have an insured vehicle, present proof of insurance, and maintain proof of insurance throughout the course of employment.
  15. Agency recommends annual TB screening and physical as part of employee's personal wellness plan (Recommendation - Not a requirement of this position)
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Extensive knowledge of social, cultural and economic conditions in rural Alaska; cross-cultural experience working with Alaska Natives.
  2. Extensive experience providing TTA for organizations or tribes serving Alaska Native youth and expertise in prevention theories and methodologies.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
