Under the general direction of the Director of Employee Relations & HRIS, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner will provide comprehensive HR services across employment, employee relations, training and development, benefits, and compensation while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role primarily supports our construction industry family of companies, with services extending to other operational divisions.
We seek a strategic HR professional with demonstrated project management and operations experience who can effectively collaborate across departments and with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex HR initiatives, optimizing operational processes, and fostering positive work environments that drive business results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Collaborate with business executives, leaders, and teams to develop strategies that drive productivity and growth, ensuring HR initiatives align with overall business objectives.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; act as the HR point-of-contact for company employees and management level personnel. Know when it is necessary or appropriate to escalate managerial issues/situations to upper management and/or Senior Leadership within the HR Department.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Research and produce professional-level human resource reports in areas such as employee relations, affirmative action, drug and alcohol, and personnel. Investigate and resolve employee concerns under the guidance of HR leadership.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of departments and services performed.
- Perform leave audits, ensuring all necessary paperwork and processes have been completed.
- Participate in human resource meetings and other relevant meetings, facilitating employee training on human resource topics and employment policies.
- Assist with all administrative tasks for onboarding and conduct new hire orientation.
- Review HR data entries and audit for accuracy, assisting as needed.
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
- Assist in the communication and training on employment policies and assist with upkeep of the employee directory and organizational chart.
- Serve as an alternate for drug screening collections.
- Maintain employee files and records, performing audits as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel records, reporting, and personnel information.
- Serve as a backup to the HR Generalist with the ability to perform all the HR Generalists' tasks.
- Assist with HR Management System enhancements and updates, as needed.
- Assist with recruiting events and efforts, as needed.
- Travel to job sites and events, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM) preferred. Equivalent work experience in lieu of degree requirements will be considered, particularly in the areas of complex operations, project management or customer-service oriented senior positions.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR, operations or project management experience, with at least 3 years in a mid-level HR role. Proven experience in project management and business operations is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels and influence organizational outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines for federal and state reporting, interpret and explain complex employment legal issues and demonstrated high-performance in employee relations is required.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Experience in ensuring compliance and managing risk.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools. Familiarity with Oracle, Vista, and/or Taleo applications is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong understanding of business operations and the ability to align HR strategies with business objectives. Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
