The Criminal & Traffic Division of the Anchorage Trial Court is seeking a detail-oriented individual to help fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System as a Court Case Manager 1 (salary range 10). This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What will you be doing?
Criminal Division
The incumbent will screen and accept charging documents for filing, initiate criminal cases, route documents to the electronic file system, and schedule arraignment dates. They will coordinate prisoner transport for in-custody arraignments as necessary, working with local transport units and correctional facilities.
The position is responsible for entering complete and accurate identifying information into the CourtView database, including court dates, temporary orders with bail information, bail/bond documentation, and arrest or bench warrant orders. The incumbent will also generate summonses, assign arraignment dates, and distribute case documents to relevant parties.
This role includes processing out-of-town cases scheduled for proceedings in Anchorage, coordinating future court dates with the court of origin. Additionally, the incumbent will handle all aspects of bail, bond, and release paperwork received by the court—from initial entry through exoneration or forfeiture—while ensuring an accurate monetary record is maintained for each case.
The incumbent will also be responsible for closing cases by screening final documents for compliance with court procedures and distributing judgments, dismissals, and other orders to all interested parties, including the Department of Public Safety, correctional facilities, and other involved agencies.
Occasional duties when working in the Traffic Division
The incumbent will provide accurate and concise information to the public regarding court policies and procedures, and assist in directing customers to the appropriate locations for hearings or related agencies. You will receive fines from the public for citations within the jurisdiction and prepare or assist in preparing necessary paperwork, such as requests for court appearances, entering pleas, requesting continuances, or reopening cases.
This role will utilize the APSIN (Alaska Public Safety Information Network) system to research citations and DMV information while maintaining strict security protocols. It will also assist in processing case documents from initiation through closure, verify and process electronic payments for Minor Offense cases, and ensure accurate receipt balancing and daily cash drawer closure.
The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. Regular hours are Monday - Friday from either 7:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
After initial training, the candidate may be temporarily assigned to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and two or three other days during the week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
