Join the dynamic team at Leidos as a Cloud Software Engineer! You will play a pivotal role in supporting the FAA Weather Camera Program as we transition our services to a new Cloud environment, leveraging your software development and systems administration skills.
Your expertise will be an asset in managing a robust cloud infrastructure, using technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Linux, as well as engaging with legacy codebases in PHP, Perl, and Bash. You will help maintain high standards of performance and quality by championing key design principles such as Infrastructure as Code and Dev Sec Ops.
The FAA Weather Camera Program operates a network of hundreds of Linux-based cameras, showcased through our cloud application. You will collaborate with a high-performance team that embodies a culture of versatility and accountability, where everyone contributes significantly to our mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the integrity and configuration of Linux devices and AWS systems according to established policies and standards.
- Identify and recommend technologies and processes to enhance our IT operations.
- Assess existing architecture and applications, pinpointing areas for improvement.
- Implement modifications to infrastructure as directed by government oversight.
- Conduct system monitoring and evaluations of operating systems.
- Utilize tools and capabilities from the FAA to service network devices and cloud environments.
- Operate and maintain cybersecurity defense service tools effectively.
- Ensure executable Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans are in place.
- Provide design recommendations related to change requests for Linux and AWS environments.
- Analyze user and infrastructure issues in connection with cybersecurity tools, supplying the government with actionable recommendations.
- Deliver compliance data following security inquiries from the government.
- Refactor existing applications to align with operational goals and enhance reliability and maintainability.
- Conduct software and configuration inventories to address security inquiries.
- Create strategic plans to advance initiatives through regulatory approval, including system documentation.
- Manage user accounts and related documentation workflows.
- Perform software patching and server updates to eliminate vulnerabilities, alongside triaging issues and restoring services when needed.
- Update security certificates and maintain password protocols.
- Deploy software changes across the camera network using Ansible.
Please Note: This role is based in Anchorage, Alaska.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience; additional years of experience may compensate for educational requirements.
- Experience with Cloud Technologies, primarily AWS, and automation methodologies.
- Proficient in the Linux operating system.
- Solid understanding of software development principles, including design, development, testing, and debugging.
- Knowledge of enterprise cloud solutions architecture and design within AWS.
- Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents/Green Card holders who have resided in the U.S. for the last 3 of 5 years).

Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
