Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. Department: Development Services. Hours of work: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Location: 4700 Elmore Road, Anchorage, AK. Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per PandP 40-40.

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in construction or project management, building construction design, and/or building plan review. OR Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in construction or project management, building construction design, and/or building plan review. Preference:

  • State of Alaska Professional Registered Engineer or Architect License or equivalent licensure in other state with the intent to achieve within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska drivers license at time of hire or ability to obtain a valid Alaska drivers license.
  • Certification as a plan reviewer from the International Code Council (ICC).

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
