Through its merger with Oil Search, Santos has acquired and assumed operatorship over a world-class portfolio of oil leases on the Alaskan North Slope, USA.
Our focus in Alaska is the advancement of our Pikka Phase 1 project, which includes a single drill site, an oil processing facility, and supporting infrastructure to produce 80,000 barrels of oil per day.
Pikka has been identified as among the top quartile of oil and gas development projects for greenhouse gas emissions performance. It is positioned to play an important role in the energy transition and aligns with our company goal of managing climate change risk.
The Pikka Unit is one of the largest conventional oil discoveries in the US in the last 30 years, and the Phase 1 project is the most significant development on Alaska's North Slope in over 20 years.
The permitted development includes two additional drill sites. Our Alaska assets also include discoveries from the Mitquq and Stirrup exploration wells drilled in 2020, offering a clear path to long-term growth.
This role reports to the IS Operations Manager and is responsible for implementing and maintaining a stable, secure, and efficient network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity for all users in Alaska, with a focus on production operations and operations technology.
The Telecom Lead collaborates with all departments to meet network requirements for the Anchorage office, Data Center, North Slope activities, winter field work, upcoming construction seasons, and the transition to our production facility. The role also works closely with Telecom engineering within the Development team to design and rollout permanent facilities, ensuring a smooth transition from engineering to operations.
Responsibilities include developing system performance monitoring processes to diagnose and resolve network issues, optimize performance, and uphold security standards. The role ensures infrastructure meets or exceeds standards per Santos Management System (SMS) Operating Standards and Core Business Processes, working with the wider Alaska IT team to support business technology needs.
