Job Description

The primary focus of this position is to participate and lead Civil Engineering projects, primarily in the transportation and aviation industry. The position will also be responsible for marketing and growing transportation and aviation engineering projects and services. The individual will coordinate closely with the Civil Department lead for support and staffing across the larger Transportation Market segment.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and coordinates project contracts with NANA legal and contracts departments.
  • Develops and manages project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provides monthly reports on project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Manages multiple projects concurrently and/or larger projects.
  • Supports and follows company QA/QC and HSE processes.
  • Assembles and manages project teams.
  • Oversees all aspects of the project lifecycle: initiate, plan, execute, control, and close.
  • Leads proposal pursuits and marketing efforts for transportation (road and aviation) projects and other civil engineering projects as required.
  • Supports the growth of Kuna, fostering open communication, teamwork, and work sharing.
  • Creates a positive working environment through proactive communication and mentoring of junior staff.
  • This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering. PE required.
  • Minimum 10 years of successful and progressive experience in providing engineering consulting support across civil engineering disciplines, especially for transportation/aviation projects.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of project management and team management experience.
  • Experience with planning, design, permitting, and project management.
  • Knowledge of ADOT & PF staff, standards, specifications, design manuals, procurement procedures, and transportation plans.
  • Knowledge of Alaska public funding processes and sources.
  • Working knowledge of regulations and standards for transportation and aviation projects.
  • Experience with remote Alaskan transportation project requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Track record of completing projects on time and within budget, especially within Alaska.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Experience with ADOT & PF personnel and regions preferred.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily indoors in a controlled environment.
  • Noise level typical of a standard office environment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.; frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, see, taste, smell, and lift/carry weight.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
