Click to view the physical capacities assessment requirements for this position.Working knowledge of federal, state, and municipal electrical, fire, and building codes.Working experience of oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, transistor checkers, tube checkers, and power supplies.Commercial building experience running conduit, reading schematics, and installing and maintaining all types of electronic equipment and systems.Minimum of four years of experience within the past six years in the field of electronics with emphasis on fire alarm, DDC, and security system repair and maintenance. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.Troubleshoots and repairs all types of electronic systems.Performs maintenance and repair of alarm, security and other electronic systems such as NAPCO and Infographics.Performs maintenance and repair of commercial fire alarm systems and associated equipment such as pull stations, smoke detectors, fixed and rate of rise heat detectors, fire door closures and sprinkler riser flow devices.Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs various brands of commercial and industrial security systems and components.Works from plans, prints, specifications, and established maintenance procedures completing estimates, electronic repairs, and installations of electronic equipment as required.Routinely works at heights over 30 feet.Writes reports as necessary.Proficiently uses appropriate computer applications for assigned areas of responsibility.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.Works cooperatively with others and within established safety procedures.Bargaining Unit: Maintenance

Salary: M-9, $35.27 to $40.32 per hour, DOE
The wage above reflects a 115% differential for market rate.
Job SummaryThe Automation Fire Alarm Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of fire alarm systems within Anchorage School District facilities. The position will report to a department lead, while the location of the work station is subject to contract language concerning shift location/bids. Maintenance employees work a 4/10 schedule with weekends and holidays off. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
