This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Services

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday; Hours TBD

LOCATION: Central Transfer Station - 1208 E 56th Avenue

Note: Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage cannot provide sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas.

Under the general direction of the SWS Director, enforces safety and security programs, inspects facilities and equipment for compliance, drafts safety programs, conducts training, provides expertise on safety codes and regulations, oversees contracted services, writes reports, coordinates fire drills, analyzes accident data, and performs other duties as assigned.

Participates in major emergencies or disasters, which may include 12-hour shifts for extended periods, 24/7 availability.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, with 8 years of related experience, OR
• Associates degree in a relevant field with 6 years of experience, OR
• Bachelors degree with 4 years of experience, OR
• Masters degree with 2 years of experience.

Must possess or obtain:

• A satisfactory background check.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver's License.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications within 90 days of hire.
