The Industrial Water / Wastewater Business Class Lead (IWW BCL) - will work with the Professional Services Director (PSD), Industrial Market Sector Director, Business Class peers, Market Sector Peers, and HDR peers on technical and staff development, coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of Business Class staff and technical execution. The IWW BCL can have or be assigned a technical focus (topical focus), program focus, and/or an area (geographic) focus. The initial focus of the IWW BCL will be to support the growth of HDR's IWW services and technical capabilities within North America (specifically Canada and the United States).

BCLs are called upon to lead or mentor technical Practice Groups and/or activities to continually improve standards, guidelines, tools and recommended practices. BCLs often serve as lead quality assurance (e.g., PARR) and independent technical reviewers for complex projects.

In the role of Industrial Water/ Wastewater Business Class Leader, we'll count on you to:

  • Support PSD to provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
  • Support development and application of technical tools, technology, standards, recommended practices and techniques to enhance service quality and efficiency. Verify technical staff are aware of and monitoring emerging technologies.
  • Support PSD and IWW Service Line Lead with assignment of qualified, experienced staff to projects including the support of work sharing.
  • Support PSD and Market Sector Director (MSD) with providing strategic and tactical business trends as well as developing and implementing strategic plans for the business class.
  • Support PSD with monitoring business class direction, adherence to policies and practices, quality, technical tools, recommended practices, project staffing and resource to workload allocation.
  • Support PSD with building and/or enhancing technical expertise and production capacity through recruitment, implementation, training, and knowledge transfer. Coordinate strategic Business Class hires with Business Group Leadership at the national, regional, area and local levels.
  • Support PSD with facilitating Business Class technical experts in support of client development, proposals, and project pursuits.
  • Support PSD with verifying Business Class technical experts represent HDR by active involvement in industry organizations and functions including presentations and publications. Oversee practice groups within the business class.
  • Support PSD with facilitating knowledge transfer (i.e. lessons learned) for project delivery, processes, trends, successes, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Support PSD with monitoring company-wide performance within business class to achieve defined goals and support Business Group Leadership at the national, regional, area and local levels in monitoring project performance and implementation of corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Project execution experience within multiple market sectors and/or throughout North America
  • Experience across the Industrial Sector's Practices (Oil Gas & Chemicals, Mining, Advanced Manufacturing and Agribusiness)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The pay range for Vancouver, BC is $219,000-$290,000.
