SUMMARY
Central Environmental, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Engineer Technician (Multiple Openings) for Central Environmental, Inc. located at 229 E Whitney Rd, Ste 200, Anchorage, AK 99501.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Calculate dimensions, areas (i.e. square footage, acres, square yards), profile and component specifications to quantify materials using engineer scale, calculator and/or computer software.
Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects for work plan submittals and project layout clarifications with clients.
Prepare reports and document daily project activities and onsite coordination relating to problems encountered during construction, work progress and delays, conflicts or errors in drawings or specifications, field changes, safety hazards encountered, and any corrective actions taken or recommended.
Develop Quality Control Documents for ensuring compliance of work to approved plans and specifications.
This includes material testing through various stages in construction and documentation of tests performed using tools and equipment that apply engineering knowledge.
Negotiate with subcontractors on price proposals for new contracts or modifications to existing contracts.
Responsible for quantifying permanent and temporary construction materials necessary to assist the lead estimator in pre-construction bids and project needs.
Responsible for contract administration such as RFI's, Submittals, Change Orders, Subcontract negotiations and management and other related management needs for our company and related entities as needed.
Use CADD software to help develop work plans and submittals to clients.
Management of personnel, physical assets, contract requirements and growth and development.
50% domestic travel required.
Supervision of Construction Laborers and Operating Engineers and Other Construction Equipment Operators.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
Associate's degree in Engineering or related field of study.
One (1) year related experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or other related occupation.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Experience is required and must include: Conducting Feasibility Studies and Cost Analysis to Assess the Viability of a Proposed Project or Investment;
Performing Cost Optimization Strategies to Find the Best Prices and Terms for a Project or Investment and to Procure Materials at the Best Price for a Project or Investment;
Managing, Planning, and Negotiating the Execution and Performance of Contract Between Parties;
Procuring Upgrades for Equipment and Optimizing All Processes Utilized on Projects; and
Troubleshooting Any Problems that Arise on a Project and Optimizing All Processes.
NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.
DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

This position supervises Construction Laborers and Operating Engineers and Other Construction Equipment Operators.
