Job Description
The Divisional Marketing and Social Media Coordinator plays a vital role in executing marketing and communication strategies across multiple contracts, including but not limited to the University of Alaska Anchorage, Diné College, and the Juneau School District. This position is responsible for managing social media content, coordinating print and digital collateral, and supporting initiatives that promote food service programs, drive participation, and enhance customer satisfaction. Success in this role requires a strong eye for design, excellent written communication skills, and keen attention to detail, as well as the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This is a remote, work from home (WFH), position. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Interested candidates must be based in Anchorage, AK as this position requires travel to various NMS units for projects and support.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of marketing and communication plans across multiple contracts and departments.
- Assist in managing social media accounts by scheduling content, maintaining brand voice, and monitoring engagement.
- Help prepare marketing materials, including flyers, presentations, newsletters, and digital content.
- Provide proofreading, editing, and formatting support for internal and external communications.
- Coordinate updates to websites and digital platforms in alignment with brand standards.
- Support email marketing efforts by assisting with design, copy, and distribution.
- Assist with event logistics, including promotional materials, scheduling, and coordination.
- Help maintain digital assets, photo archives, and promotional inventory.
- Collaborate with the marketing manager, business units, and vendors to support timely project execution.
- Track and organize project timelines, deliverables, and administrative tasks for the department.
- Conduct basic research on media trends, competitors, and industry developments.
- Support media outreach efforts by helping draft press materials and organizing contact lists.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the marketing and communications team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Design, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- At least two (2) years of experience in a Marketing & Communications Coordinator or related support role.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Proven project coordination skills, including the ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and other relevant design tools.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent oral, written, and editing skills, with a creative and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Reliable personal transportation with current insurance coverage.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including to remote locations using alternative modes of transportation (e.g., small aircraft, ferry).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: Up to 25% of the time. Employee may travel throughout Alaska and/or to remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs. Travel to and from the worksite will be provided and arranged by NMS.
