Data Solution Engineer

Description:

The main goal of the Microsoft Solution Engineer (SE) is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our technology. The SE is expected to own and win customers' technical decisions, as well as identify new opportunities through contacts and engagements for sales specialists. As an SE, you work within a virtual team of technical, partner, and consulting resources to educate customers at a technical level, demonstrate, and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, helping the team achieve or exceed quarterly sales targets. This role allows you to maintain and develop deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based technologies.

Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior executives. Experience in managing stakeholder relationships to gain consensus on solutions/projects. Ability to influence and build relationships across technical and business teams. Demonstrates executive presence, presentation skills, technical product demo abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Works effectively with customers, the Microsoft account team, and partners. Helps others succeed by promoting innovative solutions and strategies. Experience in creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that lead to production deployments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of technical pre-sales or consulting experience
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years of relevant experience
  • OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of technical pre-sales, consulting, or technology delivery experience
  • 4+ years experience with cloud, hybrid, or on-premises infrastructure, architecture, migrations, and industry standards
  • Certifications in relevant technologies, such as Azure certifications (DP-600, DP-700, DP-420, DP-203, DP-300)

Responsibilities

  • Own technical sales with customer decision makers, leveraging demos, programs, offers, and proof of concepts using consultative sales methodology.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships, understand customer pain points, and co-develop secure and resilient solution architectures using Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Cloud Migration Factory (CMF).
  • Overcome competitors and technical objections, manage escalations, and share insights with engineering teams for product improvements.
  • Maintain and grow expertise in Fabric Data Platform, Data Warehousing, real-time intelligence, BI, Purview, and Azure Databases (SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL).
  • Stay updated on market trends and collaborate with the Database & Analytics community.
